Though the Stone is relatively new territory for all of us, something about it feels oddly familiar. Bringing together conversations from diverse disciplines, figuring out how everything fits together, this is what each of us do on a daily basis in this so-called liberal arts education of ours. the Stone is an intersection. It is place for us to say, with appropriate uncertainty, that we’ve cobbled together some semblance of unity between political philosophy, math proofs, and literary analysis. It is a nod to the buzzing confusion that swims around in the head of any thinking human, muted once in awhile by those glimmering moments when we recognize the interconnectedness of it all. It is an intentional wandering, a first step taken when you identify that common thread and decide to see where it leads.
